Amanda and Nathan are new to Cincinnati and are excited to start their new family here. I am a little jealous that we weren't shooting in their hometown, because Memphis, but I couldn't have asked for a better December Day. Yup - This is December in Cincinnati, Ohio guys. It was beautiful.
I cannot wait to meet their squish next month for their newborn session! Besides the obvious baby cuddles I love a surprise and they are waiting to find out the gender.
Nathan and Amanda were so happy together and every single one of these smiles are as real as they get. Although, some may be laughing at each other, not with. Lets be honest, that's the best though.
The Neumanns always show up for their sessions in the most gorgeous outfits. I joked that I was going to make a "what to wear session guide" and it was going to be 75% them. I am glad Victoria went for the layers for our session because although it LOOKS gorgeous it was FREEZING. Okay, that was dramatic, but it was definitely too cold for an Eloise. She likes to spend her time at the plaza. :D Obligatory book joke, but, Eloise did like to make us work for her smiles. Her baby blues and pout lips are completely adorable so I don't even mind :P It may have been a little crisp, but that just called for lots of snuggles for warmth.
I am so glad that The Dean family came to take partake in my winter minis because I am obsessed with their babies, Fenway and Evie. Fenway is in the vest. They are the kind of family that somehow falls into poses and make my job super duper easy. Especially Fenway. His manners beat the intensely trained therapists pups that I work with at the day job. So here they are in all of their adorablness making it look like it wasnt hailing on them for half our session.
It was borderline chilly and felt very December, but that just leant to some adorable snuggles. Plus these two littles are amazing. I cannot even begin to share the outtakes of some very fierce wrestle loving. They are DEFINITELY going to be in the full gallery.
I was a little nervous to do have my first ever mini session be with a family that I haven't shot before. My inital thought was it was a Christmas Card opportunity for families that I have shot before and know the run down of shooting with me. Which is pretty much be awesome and pretend I am not here, but sometimes it takes awhile to get comfortable in front of the camera. When Megan said that her sister had sent her over I figured I would try. I should have known they would be super amazingly adorable, they're related to Katie.
Jacob + Chelsea
I absolutely loved spending the day with Chelsea and Jacob as they came together with friends and family to tie the knot. When Chelsea first asked me if I was available for her wedding in Findlay. I thought she meant in Findlay Market here in Cincinnati, but I was pleasantly surprised to hear about her backyard wedding at at bed and breakfast in her hometwon of Findlay, Ohio. Which ended up being about 2 hours from me. Not too bad, I just refreshed my memory of the songs I listened too in middle school! it was totally worth it since their wedding day was rustic barn wedding pinterest goals.
I had so much fun getting ready with the bride and her tribe the morning of her wedding. It gave me the chance to really capture the small details. One of my favorite parts of spending the day with Chelsea was that she had stories behind a lot of the elements. The necklace and earrings that Chelsea wore down the aisle were both gift for her mother in law from her late husband.
Chelsea chose to do a first look with her father and keep in tradition of saving the first look with her groom to be as she was coming down the aisle. Usually, I am all for first looks, but being able to capture this moment of her and her dad was beyond touching.
LAST CHANCE TO RUN! No running was happening. Just some prayers, laughs and an enthusiastic first kiss.
All of the sweetness! Also, see the last photo right there- gorgeous, right. You have to squint. There is a tractor in the background kicking up dust. No smoke bombs needed here in Findlay. You know it is an Ohio wedding when there is a tractor in the background of your wedding photos. We ran away before it got too close and found a white picket fence and swing set.
Their reception was in the barn at Scarlet Oaks Estate and I am obsessed. All barns need to be open on both sides at all time to let in gorgeous lights and as always give me all of the twinkle lights. Wedding Goals.
& THEN WE DANCED
Venue - Scarlet Oaks Estate
I was really feeling the black and white edits this session too. So the gallery getting delivered is beyond huge. I think I did almost every image in a b+w too. That never happens.
Gentleman, take notes! Joel went all out to ask Katie to be his wife. Every moment of her day was planned ahead to be sure it was nothing short of perfection. Including a trip to the nail salon. Since he proposed on sweetest day Katie thought they were just meeting up to go on a double date, but really it was her surprise proposal.
In case you needed a reason to think that dancing while being serenaded was romantic, the back story is that they had dancing in public on their couples bucket list. After their dance family and friends surrounded them to say their congratulations and check out the bling. Just in case anyone missed the celebration Joel had me (the photographer) and a videographer their to capture every moment.
I absolutely adore big sister Ellie, not only was she a big helper with her little sister during our session, but she ended up playing with my little girl Ella for our scheduled mini reshoot. Her smile is contagious and she loved to love on baby Claire. Which worked out perfectly because Claire 100% wants the snuggles at all times.
Claire's newborn session fell on a super dark and dreary day so we ended up doing an outdoor session at Sharon Woods since it is pretty much their back yard. It was fun getting a mix of completely different edits to include in their gallery.
When my camera is charging you can find me playing with my little family or trying yummy new foods around the city. I promise to tell horrible jokes and will probably be more awkward than you, but by the end of the day we will all be laughing. Which is how I get the real natural smiles that you see in my portfolio!
