Why am I starting my 365 Project on January First?
1. Its probably the ONLY resolution I will truly stick with this year.
Last year I was so proud to get 80% of the way through my goal of taking a photo everyday. I think I probably would have finished strong if it wasn't for my late summer oopsies.
2. A huge part of me loves the clean simplicity of photo 1 being on 1-1.
Yup. I am that person. It drove me crazy that when I was counting my days that it wasn't matched up with how many days into the year I was.
3. Seeing my year in review.
This year I won a shutterfly photo book from a McDonalds McMuffin. Which was both the perfect gift for me to win and delicious. I made my first ever photo book and fell in love. I am already making another. So this year I had the idea to do a year in review photo book. 365 photos.
4. Having a community that will be at the same point as I am.
Taking a photo everyday can be challenging. Strangers look at you funny when you start taking your camera everywhere you go, you can't think of a single thing you haven't taken a picture of yet and the motivation just starts to slip. Having other photographers who are cheering you on and going through the same slumps and peaks is great. Link up with a blog, or two, and join instagram. I am @KristinBrownPhotography. 5. Taking advantage of the resources available to me.
Both photography and photo a day projects are super trendy right now and I think its awesome! As the new year starts and everyone else gears of for the photo a day projects there are so many people to follow, articles to read and new ideas to try. Last year I loved reading an article over on click it up a notch and then challenging myself to master the technique. Now that I have some of the basics down I think I might follow instagramers like @clickinmoms & @TheAlbumsCo to have prompts to push me on days where. I. just. can't. even.
Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the internet. I am a collector of moments & a lover of all the beautiful “things” in life. These include, but are not limited to; yoga pants, iced tea, cold sheets, lipstick, sunbeams and bokeh. Feel free to mosey about and become acquainted.
